Shoreline Protection & Enhancement (Millbrae and Burlingame Shoreline Area Protection and Enhancement Project)
Client
OneShoreline
Location
San Mateo County, Ca
As OneShoreline’s first regional sea level rise protection initiative, this project will provide protection against flooding and establish long-term resilience against sea level rise along the San Francisco Bay in the Cities of Millbrae and Burlingame. The project’s design will prioritize nature-based solutions (such as restoring and establishing habitat) in conjunction with engineered structures and the enhancement of public access and recreational connectivity of the San Francisco Bay Trail.
Moving inland from the Bay shoreline, the project area also encompasses the reaches of creeks and canals that are/will be tidally influenced and flood-prone with sea level rise. This includes reaches of El Portal Canal in both Millbrae and Burlingame, the Highline and Lomita Canals in Millbrae, as well as Easton Creek, Mills Creek, Sanchez Creek, Gilbreth Creek, and Burlingame Lagoon in Burlingame.
As a subconsultant to Schaaf & Wheeler Consulting Civil Engineers, Tanner Pacific is providing constructability services on this first phase of the project which includes design, evaluation, feasibility, environmental documentation, and permitting.
